“Place”, as the place meant to put up non-stop pixels once a year is called, has returned adding “What better time to offer a blank canvas to our communities than when our users and moderators are most passionate, right?”. This year art seems to have been put aside to make room for vindication.
They’ve done it in the most Reddit way possible: since 2017 saw the start of the “pixel wars”, in which each user can add one pixel every five minutes to a gigantic 6000×6000 screen (so it takes a lot of coordination to get a drawing out), all sorts of wonders have been made, from flags filling an entire side to images of ‘ Star Wars‘. Well, that’s putting it mildly: as soon as they’ve had a chance to say something, they’ve used it to charge as hard as they could against Steve Huffman, the CEO in question, better known as Spez.
And the fact is that, since the application’s bosses decided to charge third-party applications such as BaconReader or Apollo, a good handful of communities have simply decided to close in protest and leave Reddit blank.
